Katarina Gryvul

Katarina Gryvul is a musician, a violinist, a composer and a music producer.

Katarina was born in the Lviv region, Ukraine in 1993. She graduated from the Lviv secondary special music boarding school called after S. Krushelnytska. In 2016 she graduated violin faculty and she started studying at composing faculty of Mykola Lysenko Lviv State Academy of Music.

She had lessons with such composers as Sergej Newski (Russia-Germany), Clemens Gadenstätter (Austria), Martin Schutter (Germany), Jerzy Kornowicz (Poland), Maxim Kolomiiets (Ukraine), Jaime eis (Portugal), Ake Parmerud (Sweden), Mehmet Can Ozer (Turkey), Stefan Prins (Belgium), Alla Zagaykevych (Ukraine), Dariusz Przybylski (Poland), Sarah Nemtsov (Germany), Matthias Kranebitter (Austria), Sławomir Wojciechowski (Poland), Michael Schelle (USA), Annette Vande Gorne (Belgium), Thomas Gorbach (Austria), Anna Korsun (Ukraine –  Germany), Simon Vosecek (Austria-Czech Republic), Sergej Maingardt (Germany).

Her pieces were performed at such festivals: VI International New Music Master-classes COURSE (Lviv, 2017), International festival of electroacoustic music «VOX ELECTRONICA» (Lviv, 2017), KCMD- Kyiv electroacoustic contemporary composition music masterclasses  (Kyiv, 2017), Kyiv contemporary composition music masterclasses (Kyiv, 2017), One cubed – an interdisciplinary project with music, literature and performance (Lviv 2017). The International Festival of Kraków Composers (Kraków, 2018), Musician performance at the festival of science and art in synchrotron SOLARIS (Krakow,  2018),  24th CONTRASTS  International  Festival of  Contemporary Music  (as  part  of  the  VII International  New  Music  Master-classes  COURSE  (Lviv,  2018)),  48th International Festival of Contemporary music “Poznanska Wiosna Muzyczna” (Poznan, 2019), International Festival of Kraków Composers  (Kraków,  2019), “Koncert  Studia Myzyki  Elektroakustycznej  Akademii  Muzycznej w Krakowe” (Poznan, 2019), International acousmatic festival “Sounds around me” (Vienna, 2019), 25th CONTRASTS International Festival of Contemporary Music (Lviv, 2019).

In 2018 she became a participant in the Gaude Polonia (scholarship of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland). She was studying electronic and electroacustic composition in Academy of Music in Kraków with dr Marcin Strzelecki.

In 2019 she became an ERASMUS + student (composition) in Academy of Music in Kraków with prof. Marek Chołoniewski.

In 2019 she won a Scholarship of the President of Ukraine for young writers and artists and she participated in FMF Young Talent Award on Krakow Film Music Festival. She also released on Nawiarecords and Audiomat label.

In October 2019 she took part at A C O U S M O N I U M – Conference 37th General Assembly of International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music.

<< There was a feeling of peace and tranquility, because the motif itself is similar in its chants to the mantra. It was interesting to interact and complement the vocal line with different sounds, whispers. I liked that there were no clear restrictions, but everything was based on your own feelings.>>
